Telehealth
Papamoa Pines Medical Group is pleased to offer video consultations to our patients via the platform Doxy.me (this is pronounced ‘doc see me’ – as in the “doctor sees you”)
The service is an addition to the consultations we already provide (in-person consultations and telephone consultations). Please be aware during the early phases of this rollout there may be a limited number of clinicians offering this service.
The video consultation service is ideal for those that may struggle with telephone consultations or those unable to wear face coverings for in-person consultations.
Please be aware video consultations have their limitations and there may be times when a clinician initially or during the consultation, determines a video consultation inappropriate either for clinical reasoning or for technical issues and they may suggest reverting to either a telephone consultation or an in-person consultation.
Tips to ensure a great video consultation:
- Ensure adequate power to your device (mobile phone/laptop/computer)
- Ensure adequate internet connection (ideally a high-speed broadband ethernet/wifi connection – mobile data connection may not be fast or reliable enough)
- Ensure you are in a confidential space, both yourself and the clinician have the right to confidentiality.
- Ensure adequate lighting on your face so we can see you.
Digital recordings of the consultation may only take place with the consent of both the clinician and the patient/parent / legal guardian.
If at any time the video consultation is proving a less than adequate platform for the consultation, then either party can request conversion to either an in-person consultation or telephone consultation at no extra charge.
