Adam Betteridge
Hi there, my name is Adam, and I am new here in the sunny Bay of Plenty and the team at Papamoa Pines. My role here is a Health Coach, which means I can assist people with motivation and behaviour and lifestyle change. I am originally from Pahiatua – a small rural town south of Palmerston North.
Before jumping on board with the team here, I was completing post graduate study in Clinical Exercise Physiology at the Waikato Institute of Technology in Hamilton and have recently completed a master’s degree in Health Science majoring in Sport and Exercise through Massey University in Palmerston North. I am a qualified Personal Trainer and Clinical Exercise Physiologist and enjoy most sports especially Mixed Martial Arts and Rugby as well as the great outdoors and travelling abroad.
The Health Coach role is part of a new integrated way of working within the general practice and I work closely with the Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP). I am based in the community and here at the practice with no barriers to who can see me if they are enrolled in the practice.
Appointments can be made with reception and are available Monday – Friday either at the practice (on certain days), in the community, or at your own residence. Appointments typically take between 30 – 60 minutes, with the first visit usually around an hour.
Examples of how a Health Coach can help include:
- Strategies and exercises for weight loss
- Motivation for lifestyle change
- Education and exercises for diabetes, arthritis, high cholesterol, heart disease, low back pain etc.
